About
My name is Jonathan. I grew up in a northern Atlanta suburb with my parents and my sister. Over the years, we have traveled all over the southeastern United States and to some other places as well, with camping often part of the equation. Thanks to my mother’s love of flora and fauna identification, we usually ended up on a nature walk or a hike to a rumored view.
Now that I’m an adult (hard to believe), I’m rarely a passenger on such trips and usually the navigator, planner, and driver, or a similar combination. Booster-seats have magically turned into pick-up trucks and binoculars to rifle scopes….and the world is out there.
What was camping as a child has been replaced by what we all now call “overlanding”. In turn, the “hiking” now generally involves a rifle or shotgun rather than a bird book and binoculars. Both activities have taken a very big hold on my life, concerning both time AND money. But they’re now lifelong pastimes, and I intend to spend many days and many nights immersed in this incredible nature that’s in all of our backyards.
This site is meant to be a personal record of these travels: past, present, and future, as well another place online to learn from others and share experiences.
